Remodel Part 1

I figured I should show a photo of the front of the Gloucester before I start the remodel. The bottom bricks will stay the same but will be grouted.
This next photo is progress on the bricks. I laid the roll out flat and sponged acrylic terra cotta paint all over then added a redish brick color and just a bit of burnt umber. Then I used a paper cutter into strips 1/4" wide and then cut them approximately 3/4" inches long. I don't know if that is the exact size of a proper brick but it looks right. The bucket with individual bricks is half full. Watching episodes of Little House on the Prairie while I work. It's really theraputic.

  1. Is that a front-opening house? It's really cute! Could you show the interior, too, please?

I'm a 'Little House' fan, too! Alison Arngrim, who played Nelly Oelson, is in my hometown this week doing a show based on her recent memoir: Confessions of a Prairie Bitch. (AWESOME summer read, BTW)!

  2. I read that too! Loved it! I bought the first six seasons and am watching them for the first time. Love them so far and hopefully I'll get the rest of them. They don't make shows like thy used to...
Yes it is a front opening dollhouse, it's made by Greenleaf. I'll take pictures of the inside and post them soon. It's not near finished, I was half way there I thought then all kinds of changes popped into my head.

  4. Actually, I have decided on attempting a house around 1900-1902. We'll see how well I do. It'll probably have accuracy flaws. I just hope they aren't too glaring or obvious.
